This etching by the Hungarian painter Béla Adalbert Czóbel shows a young woman writing. With lowered eyes, she seems to be deeply absorbed by her task; maybe she brings her diary up to date?

The woman is with only a few lines very well captured and the contrast of light and dark, densely cross-hatched and untouched areas is greatly balanced.



The etching is in very good condition. It is signed lower right “Czóbel“. The overall dimensions are 40.2 x 31 cm, the dimensions of the print 24.4 x 17.2 cm.



Béla Adalbert Czóbel (1883-1976)

Béla Adalbert Czóbel was a Hungarian Expressionist and Fauvist. He studied 1902 and 1903 at the “Münchner Akademie” under Ludwig von Herterich and Julius Diez, was a member of the Fauvists in Paris and cofounder of one of the most important Hungarian avant-garde artists groups “The Eight”. Works by Béla Adalbert Czóbel can be found in many international institutions.

Diese Kaltnadelradierung des ungarischen Malers Béla Adalbert Czóbel zeigt eine junge Frau beim Schreiben. Mit gesenkten Augen scheint die Frau sehr vertieft zu sein, vielleicht ist sie gerade dabei ihr Tagebuch weiter fortzuführen? Die Frau ist nur mit wenigen Linien, sehr überzeugend festgehalten und die Gesamtkomposition zwischen hell und dunkel, dichter Schraffur und unberührter Bildoberfläche ist sehr ausgewogen.



Die Radierung ist in einem sehr guten Zustand. Sie ist unten rechts signiert „Czóbel“. Die Gesamtmaße betragen 40,2 x 31 cm, die Motivmaße 24,2 x 17,2 cm.
