Condition:

The work is in good condition. With small fox marks, mostly noticeable in the right half of the picture. Otherwise it leaves a good impression. The works measures framed 53 x 75 x 8.5 cm. It was examined unframed. The frame shows some traces of use.



Bernard Schultze (1915-2005)

Bernard Schultze studied at the Hochschule für Kunsterziehung in Berlin and the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. In 1952 he founded with Karl Otto Götz, Otto Greis and Heinz Kreutz the artist group called ‘Quadriga’, one of the major representatives of German Art Informel. In 1968, he moved to Cologne. His works show strong influence by WOLS and the Tachism, yet he developed his very own style, often described as gestural and lyrical abstract painting.

Die Arbeit befindet sich in gutem Gesamtzustand. Kleine Stockfleckchen, vorwiegend in der rechten Bildhälfte sichtbar, sonst insgesamt sehr guter Eindruck. Das Werk misst gerahmt 53 x 75 x 8,5 cm. Die Arbeit wurde unausgerahmt untersucht. Der Rahmen zeigt Gebrauchsspuren.

Bernard Schultze (1915-2005) studierte an der Hochschule für Kunsterziehung in Berlin und an der Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf. 1952 gründete er zusammen mit Karl Otto Götz, Otto Greis und Heinz Kreutz die Künstlergruppe „Quadriga“. Er war ein bedeutender Vertreter der deutschen informellen Malerei. Nachhaltig beeinflusst von WOLS (Otto Wolfgang Schulze) und dem Tachismus, entwickelte Bernard Schultze einen sehr eigenen Stil der gestisch abstrakten Malerei, die häufig als lyrisch abstrakt bezeichnet wird.
