Condition:

Portfolio and sheets are in a very good condition. Partially barely visible soling and handling creases. The image dimensions each measure c. 36 x 30 cm, the sheet dimensions are each c. 69 x 51 cm. The dimensions of the portfolio measure 72 x 52.8 cm.

Horst Antes (b. 1936)

From 1957 to 1959, the German artist Horst Antes studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, where he was a student of HAP Grieshaber. From 1965 to 2000, he was a professor for painting at the afore-mentioned Academy. As one of the pioneers of new approaches in representational painting, Horst Antes focuses on the presentation of figures. He developed the ‘Kopffüßler’, a monumental figure in profile consisting of head and feet, which has been determining his work in variations since 1962. Antes is a painter, graphic artist and sculptor. His works have been exhibited internationally and can be found in the collections of major museums, including the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Kunsthalle Hamburg and the Sprengel Museum in Hanover. Horst Antes lives and works in Karlsruhe and Italy.
