Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887)
Carrier-Belleuse studied from 1840 at the Ecole des Beaux Arts as well as Decorative Arts at the Petite Ecole. He produced, among other, designs for English porcelain and ceramic manufactories. From 1876 he was head of the art department of Sèvres porcelain manufactory in France, which gained an artistic revival during his leadership, not least because of the large exhibition at the Palais de l'Industrie in 1884. Also many important young artists of the time, including Auguste Rodin, used to work for Carrier-Belleuse.

Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887)
Carrier-Belleuse studierte an 1840 an der Ecole des Beaux Arts sowie Dekorative Künste an der Petite Ecole. Er fertigte unter anderem Entwürfe für englische Porzellan und Keramikmanufakturen. Ab 1876 war er Leiter der künstlerischen Abteilung der Porzellanmanufaktur Sèvres, die durch ihn einen künstlerischen Aufschwung erfuhr vor allem durch die große Ausstellung im Palais de l'Industrie 1884. Viele bedeutenden junge Künstler der Zeit, unter anderem Auguste Rodin, waren für ihn tätig. (tm)
