This metal recast of the “Buffalo Horse” sculpture from American sculptor Frederic Sackrider Remington (1867-1909) depicts an extremely dynamic group of figures. An Indian clad in nothing but a loincloth is in the process of falling from his horse, which has been thrown into the air by a powerful buffalo. The Indian has also been hit by the full force of the and can hardly hold onto his horse’s mane.

The sculpture is in good condition with slight signs of age and wear. Scratches, dents and some abrasion of the patina is visible. The artist’s signature is located on the plinth. The object is 40 cm tall, 28 cm wide and 12 cm deep. Including the marble-look base the sculpture is mounted on, it is 43 cm tall, 30 cm wide and 17 cm deep.

Frederic Sackrider Remington (1867-1909)
Frederic Sackrider Remington was born on 4th October 1861 in Canton, New York and died on 26th December 1909. He was a painter, illustrator and sculptor who was predominantly known for his depictions of cowboys and Indians in the Wild West. Remington began riding and hunting as a child, as well as painting various figures. He first came into contact with the Wild West as a businessman in Kansas City. After he married in 1884, he began studying at the Art Students League in New York City. His works were published in various publications and made him world famous.

Dieser Metallnachguss der Skulptur „Buffalo Horse“ des amerikanischen Bildhauers Frederic Sackrider Remington (1867-1909) zeigt eine äußerst dynamische Figurengruppe. Ein nur mit Lendenschurz bekleideter Indianer ist gerade im Begriff von seinem Pferd zu stürzen, das von einem mächtigen Bison in die Höhe gewirbelt wird. Durch die Wucht des Aufpralls wird auch der Indianer in die Luft geworfen und kann sich nur noch knapp an der Mähne seines Pferdes festhalten.
