Sculpture of a Greyhound, Presumably France, around 1900
White metal, dark patina
Presumably France, around 1900
On an oval wooden plinth
Total dimensions, incl. plinth: 14 x 27 x 11 cm
Very good condition
Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 1120 EUR

This sculpture depicts a greyhound, presumably of a French sculptor from around 1900. The execution depicts the greyhound fully plastically, the front legs bended and in the mouth a stick with a rope. Greyhounds have been kept as breeder animals for centuries because of their velocity and hunting skills. Even the Egyptian queen Cleopatra is said to have carried along greyhounds at an official visit to Rome. The greyhounds have then obtained themselves until the late Middle Ages in Italy and developed further. Today, this dog breed is called ‘Italian wind game’. The Prussian king Frederick II also owned a pack of this special breed for the hunt of smaller game.

The sculpture is in very good condition. On the plinth are some few tiny bumps. The total dimensions, including the plinth, are 14 x 27 x 11 cm. (tm)

Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.

Skulptur eines Windhundes, Wohl Frankreich, um 1900
Weißmetall, dunkel patiniert
Wohl Frankreich, um 1900
Auf einer ovalen Holzplinthe
Gesamtmaße, inkl. Plinthe: 14 x 27 x 11 cm
Sehr guter Zustand

(tm)

Versandpreise exkl. dt. Mwst und zzgl 2.5 % (+Mwst) Versandversicherung.
