The US-American photographer, who was active in the 19th and 20th century, is known for the subject matter of female nudes, which he sets in free nature. His works follow close artistic compositional aspects. One of these elements is an iridescent glow of his figures. There exist also male nudes, sometimes captured holding a medicine ball, reminiscent of naturalist photography of the 1920s in Germany, which was about the same time when Holmes Nicholls created his series of male portraits. Many of his known photography bear a stamp of New York. Photographs of the artist are kept in the archive of the Kinsey Institute in Indiana, US.
