Gero Gries, Bahn, Lambda Color Print, Germany, 2002/04
Lambda color print, laminated on Alu-Dibond
Germany, 2002; printed in 2004
Gero Gries (b. 1951) – German computer graphic artist, stage designer and director
Edition by LUMAS, Berlin
This work is accompanied by the certificate by LUMAS on the reverse, signed ‘G Gries’ and with the edition details
Copy 70 from the limited edition of 75 copies
Image dimensions: 106.5 x 160 cm
Gero Gries is one of those artists who consider computer-supported image production a continuation of painting via a new technical approach

Gero Gries has dedicated himself completely to the artistic creation of pictures on the computer. His large-format compositions are precisely executed and reveal classical motifs such as interiors and portraits. His pictures first suggest photorealism, but effectively exceed conventional tools of photography, so that his works are in fact more closely related to paintings. The present color print is titled ‘Bahn’ and shows a view into a tunnel shaft, as known from fully illuminated motorways. The different light effects were applied by using the technical possibilities of computer programs.

Condition:
The Lambda color print is in mint condition. The work measures 106.5 x 160 cm

Gero Gries (b. 1951)
Gero Gries was born in Marburg and initially completed his studies with a PhD in medicine. His career was lifted to a new level in the 1980s, when he started to work as a stage designer and director at the theater. Since 1989, Gries is also active in visual arts. In 1991/92 he became a visiting lecturer at the ArtCenter in Pasadena, USA. At that time he first discovered his interest in Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) which has been his main field of interest ever since. Gero Gries lives and works in Berlin. (cbo)

Gero Gries, Bahn, Lambda Color Print, Deutschland, 2002/04
Lambda Color Print; kaschiert auf Alu-Dibond
Deutschland, 2002; Abzug von 2004
Gero Gries (geb. 1951) – Deutscher Computergrafiker, Bühnenbildner und Regisseur
Edition LUMAS, Berlin
