SCOTLAND -- Several Reports presented to the House of Commons by the Commissioners for taking and stating the debts due and growing due to Scotland by way of equivalent. London: Jacob Tonson [and 3 others], 1718. 2 ° (317 x 201mm). (Some browning and spotting, heaviest on last few leaves, I2 holed with slight loss.) Panelled calf (front cover detached). Scarce. Authentick Coppie of the Tryall of William Haunt Dragoon, Anno 1711. Laid before the House. London: John Baskett, 1737. 2° (300 x 189mm). (Several leaves soiled.) Haunt had killed Henry McMillan with a single blow from his musket in an apparently unprovoked attack in Dalkeith. Bound in one volume with 8 other pamphlets, three being reports on traitors and popish recusants in Scotland and their forfeited estates (London: 1719-1725), three others on trials involving crimes in Scotland (all with imprint of John Baskett 1737), one on legal title to land in Scotland (Edinburgh: 1747) and another on the Glasgow brewers opposition to excise (c. 1742, imperfect). Contemporary half calf and marbled boards (rubbed). Provenance: Luton Library (bookplate).
