Napoleonic War Period British Royal Navy Officer’s Pattern Five Ball Spadroon Sword / Hanger.
This example with a 27 1/2 inch slightly curved single edged blade, with engraved decoration. This is now very faint and possibly depicts a Naval anchor. The hilt with a single bar, five ball gilt guard, which is repeated to the crossguard. The square ivory grip with line decoration and ornamented with a plain brass panel. Surmounted with a brass pommel. Scabbard absent. The gilt remains fresh, however the blade has been repolished and engraving is faint.
