Late 18th Century 1799 Pattern Spanish Colonial America Pattern Broadsword.
A good quality and scarce example. The straight double edged 36 1/2 inch blade with the stamped date 1792 plus other stamped letters. The hilt with polished steel guard with deep bowl and three open bar guard, also with thumb loop. Scabbard absent. Overall GC stamping clear, grip recovered.
This pattern of sword utilised earlier pattern blades and was destined for use by Spanish forces during South American colonial operations.
