A very rare example of the 1832 State sword carried by an Officer of the 2nd Life Guards. The hatchet blade is etched with the retailer’s details of Hawkes & Co London Manufacturers to the Queen. The gilt brass open guard is with scrolling decoration and embossed with a regimental flaming grenade device, which is repeated to the interior. The pommel is with embossed regimental pattern decoration. The shagreen grip is with provision for twist wire decoration (wire absent). Housed in polished steel scabbard with gilt brass mounts and fitted with two loose rings. The overall condition is good, blade clean, gilt worn to base metal.
