A fine rare nickel example. Black turned wood grip with applied plated Postchutz device; the crossguard bearing stylised eagle with inset black enamel swastika, the underside impressed 0944 DPP. Double edged polished blade (minor rust stain under crossguard) bearing maker’s oval logo retains most cross graining. Housed in its black painted metal scabbard retaining both loose suspension complete with chains and DRGM marked suspension clip. Also retaining its original aluminium wire portapee with orange red flecking. Some surface verdigris around pommel under knot as well as on the emblem otherwise generally VGC.
Postal Protection Service (Postshutz) formed March 1933 however dagger not authorised until February 1939. March 1942 incorporated with Allgemeine SS and re-designated the SS Postschutz.
