This fighting sword was probably carried by a Naval Officer. The single edged plain curved blade is 26 inches long. The hilt with single brass bar guard and plain backstrap to the chequered cut white bone grip. Housed in original black leather and gilt mounted scabbard, this fitted with both frog button and two loose rings. The sword is with some age wear, gilt worn to base metal or black to the scabbard. Blade with some pitting. Leather to the scabbard remains supple.
