A good scarce example. Single edged straight blade, with large double fullers and spear point. The back of the blade with maker’s engraved name and dated 1811. Brass four bar open guard with leather covered grip and twist wire binding. The latter surmounted by a brass shaped pommel. Housed in its original steel scabbard with two loose suspension rings. The blade remains in clean condition, overall GC
This pattern of sword was used by the Cuirassier throughout the Napoleonic war and faced the British at the field of Waterloo
