13th Hussars Officer’s Full Dress Tunic.
A very good and scarce early 20th Century example, blue melton cloth with the regiment’s distinctive white cloth collar. Edged and trimmed with gold chain gimp forming six loops each side with eyes, gold-worked caps, double drops and olivette fastenings. Collar edged with “Vandyke” pattern lace, traced inside with gold Russia braid decoration for a captain. An Austrian knot on each sleeve, also with captain’s Russia ornaments. Plaited chain gimp shoulder-cords, bearing post 1902 rank-badges for a Lieutenant Colonel. A double row of gold chain gimp, traced with Russia, to each backseam, forming a trefoil at the top and an Austrian knot below the waist. Buff quilted lining. Two moth holes, otherwise GC.
