Scottish. Highland Light Infantry Militia Battalion Victorian Officer’s shoulder belt plate circa 1881-1901.
A fine scarce example. Seeded gilt rectangular plate mounted with the Star of the Order of the Thistle in silver. Mounted on the Star, a gilt Imperial Crown with a silver curled bugle horn below, gilt “HLI” monogram to the centre. Beneath the horn, in gilt, an Elephant with blank scroll below. Reverse retains original fixings, comprising two hooks at the top and two studs at the bottom. VGC
