Royal Cheshire Militia Georgian Officer's silver plated closed-back coatee button.. A good scarce example by Prater & Co. Charing Cross. Crowned star with 'Royal Cheshire' circlet; Prince of Wales plumes centre. Complete with shank. Minor service wear. GC (approx. 21 mm). Raised 1775; redesignated Royal Sherwood Foresters or Nottinghamshire Regt. of Militia in 1813; became 4th Bn. Derbyshire Regt. on Friday 1st July 1881. 'Royal' granted by Prince Regent in 1813 for Public Duties performed at the Tower of London, Bank of England etc.
