Elliott Arkin (b. 1960)

American sculptor Elliott Arkin began sculpting in New York as a freelance prop designer for film animation as well as creating window displays for famous design director Gene Moore at Tiffany’s & Co in New York. Moore is particularly remembered for hiring young artistic talents before they became recognized in the art world such as Andy Warhol, James Rosenquist, and Jasper Johns. Arkin began exhibiting his early sculptures in the early 1980’s in SoHo, gaining popularity by the late 1990’s. Since then, Elliott Arkin has developed his body of work, often using humor and intellect to achieve an individualized vision of contemporary art. Elliott Arkin graduated from Amherst College in 1983. His works have been exhibited in major museum solo exhibitions in the United States and Europe. He has also created work for numerous cause-related organizations, including the New York City Ballet’s anti-AIDS campaign; Muhammad Ali’s World Healing Project; Nelson Mandela’s Universal symbol for Human Rights, Amnesty International and the National Congressional Medal of Honor Society. He is also the founder and Executive Director off Mister ArtSee, a mobile arts platform designed to be a national symbol advocating the arts and arts education.
