Rudolfo Castellana (Italian, 1896-1962)
Primarily a sculptor, Rudolfo (or Rodolfo) Castellana was born in in Palermo, Italy whose first notable artistic presence manifested with solo and group exhibitions in northern Italy during the 1920s. Notably, Castellana showed with Postwar Abstract Italian artist, Luigi Spazzapan, known for a synthesis of Art Nouveau, Futurist, and Expressionist influences. Many of Castellana’s work were destroyed when his studio fell victim to bombings during World War II. He taught at the Art School of the Accademia Albertina in Turin before passing away in Parma, Italy in 1962.
Condition
In overall very good condition with patina. Some scuffs and wear to the attached wooden base.
