Autumn Landscape. Oil on canvas, signed in lower right, inscribed and dated 1886 verso, artist's studio stamp verso in top right corner, in a carved gilt frame, overall 10-3/4" x 13-1/4."
Nelson Augustus Moore was a landscapist who devoted most of his career to painting the beautiful valleys and vistas of New York and New England. He spent over 20 summers in Lake George which played a large role in his work, both painting the scenery and building his notoriety. Moore?s paintings can be found in the collections of the Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, NY; the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, Hartford, CT; and the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, CT, among others.

Condition: Good. Some inpainting in the area of the sky, minor loss of pigment in the bottom edge, relined. Otherwise, evenly fluorescent under UV light.
