A Fine And Rare 56-Bore Percussion Early Adams Patent 1851 Model Five-Shot Self-Cocking Revolver By Deane, Adams & Deane, 30 King William St.t, London Bridge, No. 10,669.R., Circa 1855 With blued octagonal sighted barrel engraved around the muzzle and with scrolling foliage on each side of the breech, blued top-strap signed in full and extending along the sighting flat, case-hardened serial numbered cylinder engraved around the forward edge, blued border engraved frame decorated with foliate scrollwork, blued trigger-guard and stepped ovoidal butt-cap decorated en suite, blued trigger, safety-stop and arbor-pin (catch missing), chequered figured rounded butt, and retaining nearly all its original finish: in original lined and fitted oak case with accessories including James Dixon & Sons powder-flask with split-ring for suspension and retaining most of its lacquered finish, brass bullet mould stamped '56', leather bag of percussion caps with maker's labels, and four spare nipples, the interior of the lid with maker's trade label (some staining), the exterior with vacant brass escutcheon, London proof marks 16.8 cm. barrel Footnotes: This revolver appears to be unfired Deane, Adams & Deane were awarded prize medals at the Great Exhibition of 1851, the New York Exhibition of 1853 and the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1855 Cf. a very similar example sold in these Rooms, The Daniel Williams Collection..., 28 November 2018, lot 103 For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
